L-Shaped & Corner Desks
For dual-screen setups, large creative worksurfaces, or rooms with corner alcoves that standard furniture ignores, an L-shaped desk is the most efficient use of a room’s geometry. We build these as single continuous worktops  no visible seam or join at the corner  which is a detail that separates a properly built piece from a bolted-together retail solution. Sizes run from 180×120cm to 280×160cm; the return arm length and depth are specified independently.
Height on the return section can also be specified differently to the main desk surface  useful for standing desk hybrid configurations, or for setting a secondary monitor at a different ergonomic level. Cable management runs through the structure rather than being taped along the back.

How to Choose the Right Desk for Your Dubai Space
Size and Space Planning
The most common mistake in desk buying is working from what looks right in a photograph rather than what fits a room correctly. In Dubai apartments, the functional desk zone in a typical second bedroom is often 140–180cm of wall width after doors, wardrobes, and bed clearance are accounted for. That measurement  not the desk’s general aesthetic  should be the starting point.
Desk depth matters as much as width. A 60cm-deep desk is right for a single laptop and minimal accessories. A 80cm depth gives you screen distance, a keyboard, mouse, and working space simultaneously without crowding. A 100cm depth is an executive spec  the full working surface of a professional desk. For L-shaped desks, the main arm depth and return arm depth can be different: 80cm main, 60cm return is a popular configuration.
Clearance behind the chair is the measurement most people forget: 90cm minimum pull-out clearance, plus 60cm walkway, means a 150cm total depth requirement from the wall before you consider anything behind you. In a room that’s 3.5m deep, that leaves 200cm for everything else  which quickly fills up. We always ask for room dimensions, not just preferred desk dimensions, because the room tells you what the desk should be.
Material and Finish Selection for UAE’s Climate
MDF with a sealed surface finish is the optimal desk construction material for Dubai’s climate. Solid wood desks expand and contract with humidity and temperature changes  which in UAE air-conditioned interiors creates visible gaps at joints and drawer faces over time. MDF doesn’t move. The finish on top  veneer, lacquer, or laminate is where the aesthetic lives, and the range is wide.
Wood veneer over MDF gives you the warmth and grain character of real wood with the dimensional stability of MDF. Walnut veneer is our most requested finish  warm, contemporary, and works with the neutral interior palettes that dominate Dubai residential design in 2025–2026. Oak, light ash, and wenge are popular alternatives. Lacquer finishes  matte greige, gloss white, matte navy  are the most durable surface for a desk that takes daily contact with hands, objects, and spills. Laminate is the most economical and comes in the full colour range with good durability.
For desk hardware  handles, knobs, cable grommets  brushed brass, brushed steel, and matte black are the current palette. Chrome hardware has dated and is declining in new builds; matte black and warm metal finishes are where Dubai interiors are moving.
Style and Interior Fit
A desk that fights the rest of your room’s interior creates visual noise. The best desk brief usually starts with: what else is in the room, and what finish direction does the overall interior take? A walnut veneer desk in a room with white walls and neutral bedding reads warm and grounded. A matte white lacquer desk in the same room reads lighter and more minimal. Size is the primary variable  material cost scales directly with surface area, and a 200cm desk uses measurably more material than a 140cm one. Finish grade is the second factor  laminate, veneer, and lacquer have meaningfully different material costs, and we reflect that clearly. Functional complexity  the number of drawers, locking mechanisms, cable management integration, integrated lighting  adds to the build time and hardware cost. How does the customization process work?
You start by telling us the desk type, your room dimensions, preferred finish direction, and functional requirements. WhatsApp, email, or in-person at the showroom  whichever is easiest. We review your brief, ask any clarifying questions, and issue a written specification with all dimensions, materials, finishes, and functional features confirmed, alongside a price. You review and approve it; material samples can be sent or viewed in the showroom before you commit.
Once you approve the specification and pay the deposit, production is scheduled. Changes before production begins are free. Once the carcass is cut  typically within 3–5 days of confirmation  structural dimensions can’t change, but finish and hardware choices can sometimes still be adjusted in early production stages. We’ll tell you clearly what’s still possible at any given point.
What materials work best for a desk in Dubai’s climate?
MDF with a sealed surface finish  veneer, lacquer, or laminate  is the optimal choice for a desk in Dubai’s indoor climate. Solid wood is beautiful but moves dimensionally with temperature and humidity changes, which in the constant air-conditioning cycling of UAE indoor environments produces visible joint gaps and drawer alignment issues over time. MDF doesn’t move. The finish on top determines the look  and the range of veneer, lacquer, and laminate options covers every aesthetic from traditional warm wood to minimal modern white.
For desk surfaces that take heavy daily contact, matte lacquer is the most practical  it resists fingerprints and minor scratches better than gloss, and it cleans easily. Veneer is the warmest-looking option and the best choice if the desk needs to be the aesthetic anchor of the room. Laminate gives the most economical price point with good durability  and in wide-format prints, the wood grain laminates are convincingly realistic at a conversational distance.
How long does a custom desk order take?
Standard desk orders  single desks, L-shaped configurations, home office setups  are typically completed in 10–14 working days from specification confirmation. Full desk and wall unit systems, standing desk with electric frame, and multi-piece commercial orders take 14–21 working days depending on complexity. If you have a specific move-in date or office-opening timeline, tell us at the outset and we’ll schedule production to meet it or tell you honestly if the timeline doesn’t allow it.
Do you deliver and install across all UAE Emirates?
Yes  all seven. Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Umm Al Quwain. Our delivery team installs every piece in position including wall-mounting for floating desks, levelling, hardware fitting, and a walkthrough with you before they leave. All packaging is removed. You don’t touch a tool.
What warranty covers your custom desks?
12 months structural warranty covering frame integrity, drawer mechanism function, and finish defects that aren’t user-caused. Surface wear from daily use  minor scratches, wear at high-contact points  is not covered by warranty, but our finish grades are specified to resist exactly this. Can I see finish samples before ordering?
Yes. Our Arjan showroom carries the majority of our veneer, lacquer, and laminate library in physical form  you can compare grain patterns, assess lacquer sheen levels, and feel surface texture differences side by side. If you’re outside Dubai or can’t visit, we courier finish samples to your address before production confirmation. Sample requests are handled via WhatsApp on +971 58 958 3686 and typically dispatched within 2 working days.
What if my alcove or room is a non-standard size?
This is exactly the problem custom-built solves. Non-standard dimensions are not a special case at Kustom Deco  they’re the typical brief. A desk for an 87cm alcove. A floating desk that runs 195cm along a specific wall. A return arm that’s 73cm to clear a radiator. We build to your measurements, not to standard size increments. The only dimensional limits are structural minimums that affect furniture integrity, and we’ll tell you clearly if a requested dimension is below them and why.
How does your pricing compare to retail?
Honestly and favourably. A retail desk at AED 2,200 from a Dubai showroom carries the importer’s margin, distributor’s cut, and retailer’s overhead in its price  before the first dirham goes into the furniture. Our DTC model removes all three. The same AED 2,200 at Kustom Deco goes into MDF density, veneer quality, and mechanism grade. The material quality difference at the same price point is consistently one full tier higher. And you get a desk built to your exact dimensions  which the retail piece categorically isn’t.
Is assembly and installation included?
Yes, completely. Our delivery team assembles every desk in position, installs wall-mounting hardware for floating designs, fits all hardware, levels the piece, and confirms everything correctly with you before they leave. No tools required from you. No flat-pack assembly. Everything is taken care of and all packaging is removed.
Can I order a custom desk for a commercial project?

What payment methods do you accept?
Bank transfer, major credit and debit cards, and cash at the showroom. A 50% deposit confirms your order and production slot. The balance is due before or on delivery. We issue a formal invoice and receipt for all transactions.
Can I change my order after confirming?
Finish and hardware changes can sometimes be accommodated in the first 1–2 days of production depending on stage. Structural changes  dimensions, number of drawers, base type  cannot be made once cutting has begun. This is why we invest time in the specification stage: a thoroughly reviewed brief before production starts eliminates the need for changes during it. If you need a change, WhatsApp us immediately  the earlier we know, the more flexibility we have.
What care does a custom desk require?
Lacquer and laminate surfaces: wipe with a slightly damp microfibre cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners and alcohol-based sprays, which dull the surface over time. Veneer: occasional application of furniture polish (wax-based, not silicone) maintains the surface. Avoid placing hot items directly on veneer without protection. Drawer mechanisms: no maintenance required under normal use; occasional application of dry lubricant to runner channels keeps them smooth if any resistance develops. We provide full care instructions with every delivery.
Do you build standing desks?
Yes  fixed-height standing desks, manual crank sit-stand desks, and electric height-adjustable desks. For standing desks to work ergonomically, the height must be calculated from your actual floor-to-elbow measurement while standing with relaxed shoulders  not from a generic “standing height” specification. We calculate this from your height and ask you to verify before production. The worktop finish range is the same as our full desk library.
Can I combine a custom desk with a wardrobe or storage wall?
Yes and it’s one of our most satisfying briefs to build.
