The single most important step is accurate measurement  and in Dubai apartments, this means measuring the actual available space, not assuming your room matches a standard layout. Measure width, height to ceiling, and depth available (accounting for skirting boards, AC vents, and door swing clearance). Note any non-vertical walls, sloped ceilings, or niches that affect fit.

Standard retail furniture is built to ±5 cm tolerances. At Kustom Deco, we work to your measurements exactly. If the alcove is 147 cm wide, your wardrobe is 147 cm wide. Fabric and Finish Selection for UAE's Climate

Dubai's climate affects furniture surfaces more than most residents expect. The combination of AC-dried indoor air and occasional high-humidity periods (August through September in particular) causes cheaper MDF and laminate to expand, contract, and eventually delaminate at joins. For storage furniture, this matters most at cabinet doors which will warp and stop closing properly if the materials aren't specified correctly.

We use moisture-resistant MDF cores as standard, with edge-banding sealed at all exposed edges. For high-humidity spaces  bathrooms, utility rooms, laundry areas we recommend PVC foil wrap finishes over veneer or lacquer, as they handle moisture cycling without cracking. For living spaces and bedrooms, lacquer, PVC foil, and melamine finishes all perform well under normal AC conditions. What Affects Pricing?

Size is the primary driver. A 250 cm wardrobe costs more than a 180 cm wardrobe, proportionally. After size, finish is the next variable  PVC foil finishes are priced below lacquer, which is priced below real wood veneer. Internal fitments (drawers, pull-outs, soft-close hinges on all doors rather than selected doors) add cost transparently. We provide itemised quotes so you can see exactly what you're paying for and adjust specification to fit your budget without surprises.

The process is simpler than most people expect. You start with your space  measurements and photos are enough. You have a brief conversation with our team (in-store or WhatsApp) about what you need to store, what finish you like, and any specific internal configurations. We produce a drawing for your approval. Once confirmed, production begins. The whole specification stage typically takes one conversation.

Nothing goes into production without your sign-off on the drawing. If the drawing needs adjustments, those happen before manufacturing  no cost, no delay. The customisation isn't a premium service for selected customers; it's the only way we sell furniture.

What finishes work best for Dubai homes?

For most living spaces and bedrooms: matte lacquer and PVC foil perform reliably under normal AC conditions and are easy to clean. High-gloss lacquer suits kitchens and contemporary living rooms but shows fingerprints more  less practical for families with young children. Real wood veneer adds warmth and texture in larger, well-lit spaces (villas, open-plan areas) but is a premium material with a commensurate price.

For bathrooms, utility rooms, and laundry areas: always specify PVC foil or moisture-resistant laminate. Lacquer and veneer are not appropriate for humid-cycle environments. If you're unsure what's right for your space, tell us the room and we'll advise honestly  we'd rather specify correctly than have you return with a warped door six months later.

How long does a custom storage order take?

Production time is 15–21 working days for most pieces. Smaller items (shoe cabinets, floating shelving) can be ready in 10–14 working days. Complex multi-unit builds or pieces with real wood veneer may require 18–25 working days. We confirm your production timeline at order so you can plan around move-in dates or handover schedules. What warranty covers my furniture?

All Kustom Deco storage furniture carries a 12-month structural warranty covering manufacturing defects and hardware failure under normal use. This covers door misalignment developing post-installation, drawer mechanisms, and any structural joint failure. It does not cover damage from misuse, flooding, or modifications made after delivery. Warranty claims are handled directly through the same WhatsApp contact  no third-party service agents.

Can I see and touch materials before ordering?

Yes, in two ways. Visit our Arjan showroom in Al Barsha South (open Saturday through Friday, 10am–8pm) where we carry a full sample library of finishes, hardware options, and edge profiles. Alternatively, we can arrange for sample swatches to be sent with your delivery area noted  contact us via WhatsApp to arrange. Most customers in Dubai visit the showroom; for Abu Dhabi and Northern Emirates customers, swatch requests are the practical alternative.

What if I need a completely non-standard size?

This is exactly what Kustom Deco is built for. Non-standard dimensions aren't a problem; they're the default. We've built 63 cm wardrobes for narrow alcoves, 340 cm entertainment walls for open-plan villa living rooms, and ceiling-height pantry units for 3.2 m kitchen ceilings. If it fits within structural reason, we build it. If there are any constraints on what's achievable, we'll tell you at the specification stage not after you've paid.

How does your pricing compare to regular furniture stores?

Comparably specified pieces at Kustom Deco typically land 30–50% below a Dubai retail store, for a piece that is also fully custom to your dimensions. The difference is the supply chain: retail prices reflect manufacturing cost plus export, import, distribution, and retail margin commonly 3–4x the manufacturing cost. Our DTC model removes those layers. Custom doesn't mean expensive when you're dealing with the manufacturer.

Is assembly and setup included in delivery?

Yes. Our delivery team assembles and installs every piece. This is not a flat-pack handover and we do not charge separately for installation. The team positions the furniture, confirms it's level, adjusts any hardware, and removes all packing material. You don't need to arrange a third party or assemble anything yourself.

Can I order storage furniture for a commercial space?

What if I want to modify my order after confirming?

Modifications before production begins (before cutting starts) can usually be accommodated at no charge contact us as quickly as possible once you need to change something. Once material cutting begins, modifications may incur a cost depending on what has changed and how far production has progressed. We'll always be transparent about what's involved. This is why the specification sign-off process matters  it's the point to get everything confirmed.

How do I care for my custom storage furniture?

For lacquer and PVC foil finishes: wipe with a slightly damp cloth no abrasive cleaners or solvents. For wood veneer: dust regularly, avoid prolonged moisture contact, and use a wood-appropriate polish annually. All hinges and drawer mechanisms are adjustable  if anything stiffens over time, adjustment instructions are included with delivery and our team can walk you through it via WhatsApp.

Are the materials safe for children's rooms?

Yes. We use E1-grade MDF (low formaldehyde emission) as standard across all production. All finishes used in children's pieces comply with UAE furniture safety standards. Hardware specified for kids' rooms uses soft-close mechanisms to prevent finger trapping and we avoid sharp exposed edge profiles on children's furniture.

Can I order matching pieces to create a cohesive look across rooms?

Yes, and this is one of the most common requests we receive  particularly from families moving into new homes who want a unified finish language across multiple rooms. Do you offer payment in instalments?

Examine the piece during installation  our team is present and any issue identified at that point is resolved immediately or escalated to workshop for priority resolution. Post-delivery issues covered under warranty are handled via WhatsApp with target response within 24 hours and resolution scheduled within 5 working days for Dubai; slightly longer for Northern Emirates.
