Size and Height: Getting This Right First

The most important measurement is height relative to your mattress surface. Your nightstand surface should sit at mattress level or within 5–8cm above it  reach comfort is the test. Measure from floor to top of your mattress (including any mattress topper) before choosing a nightstand height. Most standard beds in Dubai apartments sit between 55cm and 70cm at mattress surface.

Width is dictated by wall clearance beside the bed. Measure the space between your bed frame edge and the nearest wall, door swing, or built-in wardrobe. Allow at least 5cm clearance behind the nightstand for power cable routing. MDF with lacquer or PU finish  our most durable and most popular choice. Stable in humidity fluctuations, easy to wipe clean, takes color and finish precisely, and doesn't warp in the AC environment. This is what most of our nightstands are built on.

Solid wood veneer  warmer visual and tactile quality than lacquer. Slightly more sensitive to extreme humidity near windows, but properly sealed veneer performs well in UAE conditions. We finish with UV-resistant coating.

Upholstered panels  adds warmth and sound softness. Performance fabrics (easy-clean weaves) are the better choice for nightstands versus open-weave linens that trap dust in the texture.

Mirrored  very easy to clean, dust-shows but wipes immediately. The best choice visually in lower-light bedrooms.

What fabrics work best in Dubai for a nightstand?

For upholstered nightstands, performance linen and boucle are our top recommendations in the UAE. Performance linen is tightly woven enough to resist fine dust settling into the texture, wipes clean easily, and is stable in AC-cooled environments. Boucle is similarly durable and has become the premium choice in Dubai bedrooms. Velvet looks beautiful but shows dust and requires more regular maintenance  we'd recommend it for lower-traffic guest bedrooms rather than the daily-use master. Non-standard sizing is exactly what we're built for. If you have a 43cm wall clearance, a bed that sits at 72cm, or a bedroom alcove with a specific width  those numbers are the starting point for your brief, not a problem.
